“Discovering Slave Owners in the Family Tree”

Presented by: Cheri Hudson Passey

Many of us with Southern or Colonial ancestors have discovered the disturbing fact that one of our ancestors was a slave owner. Have you found a record of your ancestor showing the ownership of the enslaved? What do you do with the information? Cheri Hudson Passey will show us how to do something positive and share this genealogical information so it can be discovered by the descendants of the enslaved. Learn how to extract the names of the enslaved and where to share them so that they may be remembered, found, and connected.

About the speaker: Cheri Hudson Passey is a professional genealogist, instructor, writer, speaker, and owner of Carolina Girl Genealogy, LLC. She is the host of the YouTube genealogy chat show GenFriends and is a genealogical researcher, subcontracted by Eagle Investigative Services, Inc., for the US Army Past Conflict Repatriations Branch.
